About Wayne and Jo-Ann Van Vechten

Wayne and Jo-Ann are full time multimillion dollar award winning agents, specializing in Smith Mountain Lake, Bedford, Franklin & Roanoke Counties.  As well as the designation of REALTORs, they hold advance real estate designations of GRI, ABR, and Senior Housing Specialist.

Prior to their real estate career, they were federal employees. Wayne retired from the U.S. Agency for International Development, where he was the Deputy Director for Office of Information Resources Management. Jo-Ann retired from the U.S. Small Business Administration where she was the Deputy Associate Administrator for Field Operations.  Both graduated from the University of Maryland, and Jo-Ann went on to get her Master's Degree from The Johns Hopkins University.  They have 2 adult children and 6 grandchildren.

They grew up in Upstate New York in the Mohawk Valley, located between Syracuse and Albany.  They moved to the DC metro area in 1974 and lived in both the Maryland and Virginia suburbs until their retirement.  When Wayne retired, his top requirement was to move somewhere where he felt he was "On Vacation" everyday.  They found Smith Mountain Lake in the Southwestern portion of Virginia, and now call it "home." Their passion is boating and water sports.

They live in Franklin County on Smith Mountain Lake.  Both volunteer their time to the community.  Jo-Ann was the recipient of the 2007 Community Service Award from the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORs..

Their philosophy of "put the client first" has proven to be successful for both their clients and themselves.
